Miniature Pokéballs

 

I was going to be a Unova Pokemon Trainer for halloween. I spent a whole week making a Tepig and Oshawott for my costume and then I realized something. I didn't have any Pokeballs! So I looked online for some Pokeballs but they were either too big or too small. So, being the designer that I am, I decided to make my own pattern. Here it is.

Pokeballs

Materials:

Red Heart Super Saver Solids(or any Worsted Weight yarn[#4]) in Red, Black, and White

Size G crochet hook

Polyester fiberfill(or just do what I do and buy a pillow)
Yarn needle

Notes:
The numbers in ( ) at the end of each round/row indicate the number of stitches in that round/row. I worked in continuous rounds(or a spiral), but you can join the rounds if you want.

Using red,
Rnd 1: 4 sc in Magic Ring (4)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (8)
Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (12)
Rnd 4: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (16)
Rnd 5: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (20)
Rnd 6: sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24)
Rnd 7: sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (28)
Rnd 8: sc in each sc around (28) change to black in last sc
Rnd 9-10: sc in each sc around (28) change to white in last sc in round 10
Rnd 11: sc in each sc around (28)
Rnd 12: sc in next 5 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (24)
Rnd 13: sc in next 4 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (20)
Rnd 14: sc in next 3 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (16)
Rnd 15: sc in next 2 sc, dec in next 2 sc around (12)
Rnd 16: sc in next sc, dec in next 2 sc around (8)
Rnd 17: dec in next 2 sc around (4)
F/O and weave in ends.

Button:
Using black,
Rnd 1: 5 sc in Magic Ring (5)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (10)
F/O and weave in ends. Sew to Pokeball where you changed colors.

Using white,

Rnd 1: 5 sc in Magic Ring (5) join

F/O and weave in ends. Sew to black button.

There you have it! A Pokeball! If you want, be creative and embroider symbols on your Pokeballs like I did. I marked mine so I know which one belongs to which Pokemon. Enjoy!

My first pattern! - Austin the Owl

Austin the Owl

I made this owl for a friend named Austin (hint the name). I had no pattern to follow so I decided to make my own. Here it is! Hope you enjoy! If you find any errors, please let me know and I will change it. Thank you!
Materials:
Red Heart Super Saver Solids Worsted Weight Yarn in Black(main body/head), and White(wings)
Alternative yarn in colors Yellow(for eyes) and Orange(for beak)
Crochet hook(I used an H)
Fiberfil
Yarn Needle
Black felt
Hot glue gun(for gluing eyes on)

Notes: Numbers in ( ) at the end of each round/row indicate the number of stitches in that round/row.
 Gauge isn't really important as long as the stitches are moderately tight so that the fiberfill won't show through.
 I tend to prefer to work in continuous rounds, but if you prefer to join your rounds, that's fine. Whichever is most comfortable for you.
 I also recommend using the 'invisible' decrease stitch (make decrease stitches in the front loops only, instead of going through both loops of the stitch). They aren't completely invisible, but they do reduce the gaps a great deal especially in 3D pieces.
 If you don't know what a "Magic Ring" is then please look it up on Youtube (try this link) or on the web before you start crocheting. It will save you a lot of trouble.
 Head and body are crocheted as a single unit. I made the alternative beak and eyes but you can use felt instead.

Head/Body:(using black)
Rnd 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)
Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18)
Rnd 4: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24)
Rnd 5: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (30)
Rnd 6: sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (36)
Rnd 7: sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (42)
Rnd 8-15: sc in each sc around (42)
Rnd 16: sc in next 5 sc, dec over next 2 sc around (36)
Rnd 17: sc in each sc around (36)
Rnd 18: sc in next 4 sc, dec over next 2 sc around (30)
Rnd 19: sc in next 3 sc, dec over next 2 sc around (24)
Rnd 20: sc in next 2 sc, dec over next 2 sc around (18)
 Begin stuffing at this point if you haven't already. You will want to stuff it so that it's still cuddly but won't loose it's shape when prodded.
Rnd 21: sc in next sc, dec over next 2 sc around (12)
Rnd 22: dec over next 2 sc around (6)
F/O. Weave tail through last round and pull to close.

Horns:(using black)
Rnd 1: 4 sc in Magic Ring (4)
Rnd 2: sc in each sc around (4)
Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (6)
Rnd 4: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (9)
Rnd 5: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (12)
Rnd 6: sc in each sc around (12)
F/O. Stuff and leave open. Sew to top of Head/Body.

Wings:(using white)
Row 1: ch 14. sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. (13) ch 1, turn
Row 2: sc in each sc across (13) ch 1, turn
Row 3: sc in next 6 sc, dec over next 2 sc, sc to end (12) ch 1, turn
Row 4: sc in each sc across (12) ch 1, turn
Row 5: sc in next 4 sc, dec over next 2 sc twice, sc to end (10) ch 1, turn
Row 6: sc in each sc across (10) ch 1, turn
Row 7: sc in next 3 sc, dec over next 2 sc twice, sc to end (8) ch 1, turn
Row 8: sc in next 2 sc, dec over next 2 sc twice, sc to end (6) ch 1, turn
Row 9: sc in next sc, dec over next 2 sc twice, sc in last sc (4) ch 1, turn
Row 10: sc in next sc, dec over next 2 sc, sc in last sc (3) ch 1, turn

F/O. Weave tail through wing. Sew to sides of Head/Body.(I made the tip of his wings touch one another to make him look cute. You don't have to if you don't want to.)

Alternative Beak:(make 1) using orange, ch 5

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each sc across (4) ch 1, turn

Row 2: dec in next 2 sc across (2) ch 1, turn

Row 3: dec in next 2 sc (1)
F/O and weave in ends. Sew to head/body above wings.

Alternative Eyes:(make 2) using yellow,

Rnd 1: Sc 6 in Magic Ring (6) join to first sc and F/O

Weave in ends and sew to head/body above beak.

If not using alternate beak and eyes, cut felt to desired size and hot glue onto head/body. Add black felt pupils and voila! You've made Austin, the owl!

So today I created this blog, and now I'm working on making new patterns to add to my website. In case you didn't know, this blog is a knit/crochet amigurumi pattern site. So far I only have one pattern but I should have more after christmas. Christmas is a busy time for us crocheters/knitters, so please bear with me and don't loose hope in this blog.
