Busy, busy, busy!

I thought I'd update you guys on what I've been doing recently, due to my lack of posting. I even brought pictures!


So, to start off with, I had a table at a winter sale. It was display only with commissions ready to be made. Sadly however, I only got one commission. I didn't run the table by myself. My sister, whom you can see glaring at me below, showcased some of her works, too. It was a long and boring event in which we had a bunch of kids clamor around and constantly play with the Pokémon, and ask me if I could make my prices lower.

After that, I continued working on a project I've been working on since September: Lucario. The original pattern can be found at http://bizzycrochet.blogspot.com/2009/02/pokemon-lucario-look-alike.html. I heavily modified it to suit my tastes, and I'm kinda proud how it turned out! *No offense to Bizzy, her work is awesome!* Everything was crocheted, including the pads on his feet and his eyes. You can see how big he is compared to my Wii remote!

And after I finished Lucario (and sadly gave him away:( ) I began making a small My Little Pony for a friend. Now, here's the story: My sister got into My Little Pony in early Autumn, and she pestered me to watch it. I didn't, but somehow I've turned into a Pegasister. I'm in love with Fluffle Puff (if you haven't seen her, go on Youtube!), and my fav of the Mane 6 is Rarity. Well, my sister got my guy friends into it as well, and now I'm surrounded by Bronies. Not that that's a bad thing, 'cuz it's not. It's actually really nice to see one of my best friends freak out over Pinkie Pie! Lol. So, I made him a male version of Pinkie. Below is the result. I did make a pattern, and I'll post it when I've finished making all the female Mane 6. Then I'll have the wings and horns. After that I suppose I should make a Nightmare Moon and Celestia version.......

He's about the same size as my Mini Horse, Mini Mew, and Mini Torchic patterns, maybe a bit taller. The eyes are just light blue circles, what I like to call chibi eyes. The cutie mark was made using yellow and light blue felt, and it was hot glued onto the pony. The mane I free-styled. I don't know how it turned out so good, but I'm happy it did!

And that's my update! I am currently working on my sister's Christmas present, and I'll post a picture and the link to the pattern when I'm done. Merry Christmas, and if I don't post before the new year, happy new year too!

I have an idea! But I need help.....

At this point in time, my family has reached a financial crisis. We are living off a very small amount given each month and are trying to get more money however we can.

This is where the idea starts: I have decided to begin commissions. Here's my plan: People email me with commissions, I whip them up, they pay me, and then I send them the finished project. Or should they pay me before I begin crocheting them so I can buy the materials? As you can tell, my idea is still in the making. I'm not sure yet how I would receive the money, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Commissions could be for Pokémon (my favorite things to make!), anime characters, cartoon characters, Disney characters, random amigurumi, and maybe even something like, if you send me a bunch of pictures of, say, a dragon, I'd try and turn it into a yarn project. Again, this idea is just in the making, but what do you guys think? Comment below with any thoughts, yay or nay, even if they're rude (although I would prefer you were nice to me :)

Mini Mew

The second mini Pokémon I made! Sorry I messed up his left eye, I'm not too good at embroidering. I think he's so cute, and he'll fit right in your pocket or on a keychain! Enjoy!

Gauge isn't that important, just so long as your stitches are tight so that the stuffing won't show or fall out.

 The (parentheses) at the end of each Rnd/Row indicate the number of stitches at the end of that Rnd/Row.

 I work in continuous rounds (aka spiral rounds), but if your prefer to join at the end of each round that's fine. I also decrease in front loops only because I've heard that it makes the decrease stitch less visible.

 If you don't know what a Magic Ring is don't panic! It's also called Magic Loop or Magic Circle. Here's an alternative: If the pattern says 6 sc in Magic Ring you can ch 2 and 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook and join stitches. I prefer working with a Magic Ring because you can pull it as tight as you want so that the stuffing won't show. Most people I have tried to teach the Magic Ring to throw their crochet hooks and yarn on the floor in a huffy, but I myself find it fairly easy depending on how many stitches are in it. If you'd like to learn how to make one I found THIS LINK very helpful. The only person I've had success with teaching is my sister. Just use whatever you feel most comfortable using.

Embroider eyes in blue yarn to head and add a bit of white for the shine.

Mini Torchic

Recently I've been wanting to make tiny amigurumi, so I thought "Why not make a Torchic?" This is the outcome! Hope you like it! :) If the pattern is confusing, let me know and I'll fix it so that it's not.

 Sew head piece to top of head. Using your yarn needle, thread some orange yarn through the head piece to make it look like the real thing.

 

Beak: using yellow,

Rnd 1: 4 sc in MR (4)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next, sc in last (6)

 F/O. Sew to head - not in a circle, but in an oval-like shape, just like it is depicted in the anime.

 

 

Legs: using yellow,

ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (4) F/O.

 

 

Talons: using yellow,

ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (4) do not ch 1 or turn

ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next, sc in same st, ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next, sc in same st, ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next, sc in same st. F/O.

 Sew talons to legs and legs to body.

 

Feathers/Collar: using yellow,

ch however many sts it'll take to wrap around your Torchic's neck, ch some and sc in 2nd ch from hook and the others then sc in same st. I recommend chaining no more than 5, as it began looking too big for him. Sew to neck, leaving a gap at the front. Thread some orange yarn onto your yarn needle and stitch a few stitches right underneath the front of his head where the gap is, just as the picture shows.

 

Tail: using orange,

Rnd 1: sc 4 in MR (4)
Rnd 2: sc in first st, inc in next, sc in next, inc in last (6) F/O.
  Stuff lightly and sew to back of body.

Snorunt - The Snow Hat Pokemon

Another pattern! I absolutely love ice-types, so when I looked at Snorunt, I just HAD to make one! They're so cute! And the pattern was easy to make, too. My pictures show a shiny Snorunt with a blue coat with yellow trim, red eyes, and yellow diamonds on the back of its coat. The regular Snorunt has a yellow coat with orange trim, blue eyes, and orange diamonds on the back of its coat.

Materials:
 WW yarn in black, yellow, and orange (regular) or black, blue, and yellow (shiny) (I used Red Heart colors)

 Size G (#6 or 4.00 mm) crochet hook

 Yarn Needle

Assembly:
Sew feet to body, coat to body, hands to body/coat (as pictured), and finally sew on the diamonds on the back of the coat (as pictured). Cut out pieces of felt for eyes, the regular has blue eyes and the shiny has yellow eyes. Cut out a piece of white felt for the teeth and glue or sew as the pictures show. NOTE: If you are sewing the mouth on, I recommend doing so BEFORE sewing the hands to the body. I glued the mouth on after I had sewn the hands on and it worked just fine.

Mini Horse

EDIT 1/25/14: I removed a round and solved some confusing instructions on rounds 4 & 5 of the head.

EDIT 7/7/13: It was brought to my attention that the head had a problem on rnd 4. I have resolved this problem, and I apologize for any inconvenience.

I was sending a package to a friend who rides and loves horses. I was sending her knucks, so I wanted to include a little amigurumi with them. I searched and searched for small horse patterns, but they were either too chibi or too My Little Pony, so I created my own! The mane and tail were a tad bit on the difficult side, but you don't have to do them the way I did mine. I will say though, that this pattern is complicated due to it's size. You must be very patient to begin and finish this project. Also, my original copy of the pattern was kind of messy, so I apologize if anything is incorrect or confusing. Here's my Mini Horse!


Mini Horse

Materials:
Scissors
Yarn needle
Polyester fiberfill (pillows work :)
F hook (3.75 mm or #5)
Any color yarn of your choice for the body (I used Red Heart With Love Berry Red)
Any color yarn of your choice for the mane and tail (I used Red Heart Super Saver Solids Light Gray)
Any color yarn you choose for the hooves (I used Red Heart Super Saver Solids Black)

Note: All the yarn I used was worsted weight. You only need a minimal amount of hoof color.

Notes:

Phanpy - The adorable Ground-type elephant

Finally! So here's the gist: I was involved in a swap in September and for me it overran to the end of May. I finally saved enough money to post my swap items and here is one of them. Sorry it took so long! I worked for 3 months on this pattern and I finally finished it happily. So here is Phanpy!

  In this pattern I used the terms single crochet (sc), 2 sc in next sc (inc), and decrease over next 2 stitches (dec).
 

Body: using light blue,

Rnd 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each sc around (12)

Rnd 3: sc 1, inc in each sc around (18)

Rnd 4: sc 2, inc in each sc around (24)

Rnd 5: sc 3, inc in each sc around (30)

Rnd 6: sc 4, inc in each sc around (36)

Rnd 7: sc 5, inc in each sc around (42)

Rnd 8-10: sc in each sc around (42)

Rnd 2: sc in each ch around, skipping the small ch on the first two 'points'. (12)

Rnd 3: sc in each sc around (12) turn work inside out and continue to next rnd.

Rnd 4-13: sc in each sc around (12)

Rnd 14: sc in next 3 sc, inc in each of the next 6 sc, sc in last 3 sc (18)

Rnd 15: sc in each (18)

Trunk Triangle: using light blue,

Row 1: Ch 5, dec in 1st st, sc in last 2 st (3)
Row 2: dec in first st, sc in last (2)

Rnd 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each sc around (12)

Rnd 3: sc 1, inc in each sc around (18)

Rnd 4: in back loops only, sc in each sc around (18)

Rnd 5-7: in both loops again, sc in each sc around (18)

Rnd 8: sc in next 9 sc, turn leaving 9 sc unworked (9)

Rnd 9-10: sc in each of those 9 sts (9)

Toes: (make 4) using white,

Rnd 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6)

Rnd 2: sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next, sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next (10)
 F/O. Sew to legs so that the toes point out like in the pictures, and sew legs to body.
 NOTE: Front legs will have the longer side facing to the front of the body and the back legs will have the longer side facing towards the back of the body. Therefore make sure you sew the toes on correctly. See pics.

Ears: (make 2) using light blue,

Rnd 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each sc around (12)

Rnd 3: sc 1, inc in each sc around (18)

Rnd 4: sc 2, inc in each sc around (24)

Rnd 5: sc 3, inc in each sc around (30)

Rnd 6-8: sc in each sc around (30)

Rnd 9: sc 3, dec in each sc around (24)

Rnd 10: sc in each sc around (24)

Rnd 11: sc 2, dec in each sc around (18)

Rnd 12: sc in each sc around (18)

 F/O. Do not stuff. Flatten.

Earrings: (make 4, 2 for each ear) using orange,

 F/O. Sew to ears as shown in pictures, then sew ears to either side of head.

Rnd 4-7: sc in each sc around (9)
 F/O. Stuff and sew to back end of Phanpy.

Final Assembly:
 Embroider nostrils on trunk. Cut two black eyes and two white eye shines out of felt and hot glue or sew to head. Cut a brown mouth out of felt and hot glue or sew to head under trunk.
